Chris Milk has directed some wonderful videos, but this very short piece is one of my favorite things ever. It is short, it is beautiful and it's over abruptly and without much ceremony. As is life.
I love how fast and how intense it is. As a man's life flashes before him the beats get faster and faster, as time becomes less tangible. It's a normal, extraordinary and completely unique life that has been lived over and over again by many people before and after. What we have will only last a fraction of a moment, and whether we embrace it and do something about it or let it slip away, time will catch up with our mortal selves. This is a perfect manifestation of "memento mori", and should be thought of as a visual reminder.
